On September 18, 2004, it was announced that the
Fort Wayne Salvation Army was applying for a Kroc grant to build a
Community Center on the Omni Source and YWCA property just North of
downtown. The project encompasses 23 acres at the YWCA site
and 28 acres currently owned by Omni Source for a total of 51 acres
(see
map). The Facilities would include: Indoor Quality
Water Facility, Indoor/Outdoor Family Water Park with possible hotel
complex, Athletic Facility, the Salvation Army's family support
services and a teaching/seminar facility.
